With ‘Family Album’, UPside will be exploring family dynamics and definitions as our overarching themes. There will be innovative dance, live music with Mr. December, and laughs with Stand-up Comedian Edsel Mac. Think awkward family photos, weird sweaters, shoulder pads, high bangs, and sequin outfits… along with other elements of a more universal and serious nature. Each dance piece will highlight a different relationship, family history, definition, or awkward hilarious family story re-invented in a fun quirky heart-full inspired way….UPside Style!

This evening will include the premier of two film projects, ‘A Fine Line’ and ‘Projected Forest’. And UPside will reveal their upcoming project for Spring 2017.
Enjoy a glass of wine as you watch UPside Dance on the big screen in 7 short dance films and a documentary, followed by a Q & A and discussion with Artistic Director Tanya Tolmasoff and Kate Vazzoler, Film Maker Albert Casselhoff, Sound/film Designer Nick Ahumada, and UPside Dancers.
‘A Fine Line’ dance piece was created during the Wildlands Art Residency 2016 and in collaboration with filmmakers, Albert Casselhoff and Nick Ahumada, who captured this project to create 7 short art films and a documentary. Watch as the dancers were pushed beyond what we thought possible both physically and artistically; charging down a hill, balancing on a moving dock, lifting each other in a boundless meadow, dancing on a cliff’s edge, tethered to a tree, swirling through expansive vistas, and leaping through Manzanita logs during fiery-gold sunsets.
This event will also mark the debut of ‘Projected Forest’ a film directed by Cylan Schaffer featuring UPside Dance in the Jack London State Park. ‘Projected Forest’ was part of the 2016 Petaluma Film Festival.
AND will be the first time that the UPside Directors with REVEAL the next project! What is next for our UPside community?
This event is Free. RSVP highly encouraged.
Donations to UPside greatly appreciated and support future projects and outreach projects.
Wine will be available for purchase at Healdsburg SHED upstairs.

We will be sharing the Film work we created this past August at Wildlands Art Residency in the hills of Dry Creek Valley.
A bit more about Wildlands Art Residency & UPside:
UPside was honored to be chosen as one of the artists during Wildlands Art Residency’s flagship year. During our time up at the property, we experienced ways of moving
and creating work in the wild nature that was entirely new to us. We were
challenged by dancing in hiking boots out ‘in the elements’ sun blazing and bugs buzzing, and deeply inspired by the beautiful and vast environment we were collaborating with.
What surfaced was a body of work, ‘A Fine Line’. The pieces explore both internal personal
boundaries and external environmental boundaries.
Our awesome filmmaker collaborators: Nick Ahumada (Daddio), and Albert Casselhoff were present throughout the Wildlandsresidency. They have each created a film project from their own experiences. Both these films will be shown at this Open House.
Wildlands has hosted three sessions of artists. All of these artists, and their work will be presented at this Open House, Saturday, October 15th.
The Fine Print:
There are no bathroom facilities on site. Please plan ahead for that.
NO SMOKING on the premises please. It’s a fire hazard.
Wine will be offered, but no food. Please plan to eat before or after the Open House.
